Duff and Westover also play on the solo material Frank recorded last month. There is now almost a full CD worth of solo material and Frank is just deciding what, if anything, to do with it. Here's one picture from the gig, courtesy of Uncle Steve, and there's more to come.
July 29th, 2002 - Hey rockers, just a little studio update for y'all -- We have recorded the music and lead vocals for all 16 tracks of our new album, Gainesville, at Ton Studio with our pal Josh Achziger. The rest of the album will be rounded out by "Good Morning," "Born Leader," "Destination Zero," "Preach," "Strangled By Love," "Rock & Roll Fade Away," "One In The Chamber," "Ward 6," "Crucified," "Kiss Me Twice Goodnight," "When God & The Devil Agree," and "Larger Than Life." July 2002 - Yes folks, the Cheetahs have returned from our European tour in one piece after 5 weeks of rockin? and rollin??.and we had a blast!!!! It was certainly the most fun tour we have done in a long time and really made us feel great seeing so many fans across the globe. We visited cities in Germany, Belgium, Spain, Norway, Austria, Croatia, France, and, Slovenia and tore it up every night with glee. The promoters, soundmen, bartenders and fans treated us like kings and we ate and drank like bastard pirates on a sea quest to hell!!!! Take a look at the PHOTOS section of the website to see new tour pictures. We wanna send a shout out to our booker Manny at Teenage Head, who did a spectacular job with the tour and was kind enough to put us up for a coupla nights. We managed to play with some great bands along the way too, including fellow yanks The Dirtbombs and Boris The Sprinkler, Montpellier?s Starshit, Finalnd?s Stoner Kings, and Japan?s Fifi and the Mach 3. We even met a band that performs all the tunes off Live On KXLU and whose singer is an Argentinean girl who speak no English but can sing all of ?em perfectly!!! We called her up for an encore in Freiburg and she sang ?Durango? and ?None of Your Business.? Special thanks to Oliver for the in-store and last minute gig in Freiburg, they were awesome! And finally we have to give a big hi-five to our two drivers, our partners in crime, our best friends/arch nemesis? Ursela and Saften (a.k.a. Stimpy) ? you two dared to go where no man or woman has ever gone and lived to tell about it?.in the van with the Streetwalkin? Cheetahs for weeks on end!!!! The sights, the smells, and open sores will haunt your memories and scar your body forever. Finally, we must give a shout out all of our European friends for rockin? out with us for the last month and a half. We came, we saw, we drank, we rocked, but most of all we got to hang out with a bunch of super-cool rock n? rollers and have a good time. Cheers!!!!! June 2002 -
We're heading to Europe in the morning for about a month. We're gonna try to update the site, but you know how that goes. Besides, hasn't everybody heard enough about the rock scene in Slovenia already? If you happen to be in Europe, check our gigs section to see when we'll be in a city, town or village near you. Thanks to our friend KG from Tenacious D for the big send off party!!
Adios....
April 2002 - Yes, folks, the Streetwalkin' Cheetahs have returned from their five week U.S. trek with Nashville Pussy and Reverend Horton Heat (we had a blast!!!) and are now set to embark on their five week European tour in support of Waiting For The Death of My Generation (via Munster/Triple X in Europe). Check out the GIGS section of our website for UPDATED TOUR DATES. Unfortunately, the five UK dates at the end of the tour have been postponed but will surely be rescheduled for another jaunt soon to be announced. The rest of the tour is intact thanks to our booker Manny at Teenage Head (manny@pandora.be). In the meantime, the Cheetahs have a new split album with our Austin, TX buds Broken Teeth out in the UK through the Changes One label http://www.changesone.co.uk/. The CD is called In Rock We Trust and features three brand new never before released Cheetahs songs -- "When God and the Devil Agree," "Strangled By Love," and "Born Leader." And in closing, when we return from Europe in July we will be recording our new album Gainesville as soon as possible, thereby keeping up our pace of two albums a year just like the Beatles!!!! Yee haw!! March 2002 -
We're happy to welcome the fabulous John Ramirez into the fold. John will be taking over the bass slot in the Cheetahs and will be heading out with us on our upcoming american and european tours. A one time member of Nudist Priest (yes, he is prone to shedding his clothes and breathing fire) John simply rocks!! Come on down and check him out Cheetahs Love Pussy February 2002 - We just confirmed a month of dates opening for the Reverend Horton Heat and Nashville Pussy starting on March 5th. They're east coast dates, so all you folks in New York come on out. Check the gigs section for dates. Also, our European tour is starting in May, dates will be posted soon. Thanks to everybody who sent us tips on cool places to hit in Europe. It looks like retaining conciousness is going to be our major hurdle. A final thought, our "rarities" record Guitars, Guns & Gold hits the stores January 15th. Go and pick it up so we Cheetahs can all retire to the Bahamas. More later folks.
December 2001 -
Bianca Halstead (a.k.a. Bianca Butthole) died Saturday, Dec. 15th at 5:30 am in a car accident in New Orleans while on tour with her band Betty Blowtorch. The Cheetahs played many gigs with Betty Blowtorch and knew Bianca for several years. She was a dear friend. Our drummer Eric chose to write this brief note and display this picture, taken just two weeks before her death. Our sincerest, most heartfelt wishes go out to her friends, bandmates, and family. RIP Bianca...
I can?t seem to stop crying. My heart hurts.
Bianca was a beloved friend and a beautiful human being. Despite her onstage persona, she was a sweet and sensitive individual, who had a heart of gold and whose offstage passions included baking cookies and a good cuddle. I'll remember her fondly, and miss her profoundly....
-Eric

Europe Sees The Light!!
Our album Waiting For The Death Of My Generation has just been released through Munster Records in Europe. We're happy to say that it'll now be available the way god initally intended, on vinyl!! Scratches & pops? People need to hear that shit!! Yeah! Also, we've booked a five week tour of Europe starting in April. As it's our first tour abroad, we'd love to hear from anybody who's got tips on cool clubs, cool bars, cool record stores, cool mags & cool floors to crash on. Did we mention cool bars? Anything that'll make our little jaunt as fun and debaucherous as possible.
Welcome To Badsville The video/dvd of Badsville has hit the stores so go pick it up. The movie includes performances by such rock & roll heavyweights as The Hangmen, The Superbees and we Cheetahs performing a live version of No More. Also, a big thanks to all who voted for us in the best indie album category of the 2001 New Times Music Awards. We appreciate the support. We never woulda thought when we were kids that we'd grow up and be handed an award by Leif Garrett!! Wow!! More later kids......
The Streetwalkin' Cheetahs
Busy As A Cheetah
Well, we gotta lotta shit going on!! While searching and auditioning for a new bass wielding Cheetah, we've been playing gigs with our dear friends and heros, Tony Fate of The Bellrays and Rich Coffe of The Excessories. They are both awesome fellas for helping us out. The movie Badsville which features a live Cheetahs' performance hits home video on September 11th. Check it out, as it is a sometimes funny, sometimes scary document of Los Angeles Rock & Roll. We've also been spending alot of time writing our new album which will be released by somebody, somewhere, sometime next year. So far we've penned 18 new songs, some of which we're playing live now.
Cheetahs Grab Two New Times Awards Nominations
Well, the nominations for the annual Los Angeles New Times Awards are out and we Cheetahs are happy to have been named in two categories: Best Punk/Hardcore Band and Best Indie Album Waiting For The Death Of My Generation. Also, we wanna wish a fond farewell to Al's Bar, the last great club in Los Angeles. It really is a sad situation. Al's Bar RIP.
Guitars, Guns & Gold!!! We just finished putting together a rarities album which will include singles, live tracks, a bunch of previously unreleased stuff and one newly recorded song, the title track, Guitars, Guns & Gold. Look for it on Triple X Records sometime in January. The Cheetahs also wanna give thanks to Tony Fate from the Bellrays for sittin' in on bass with us recently after the departure of Jeff Watson from our little group. Tony did a kick-ass job and we love him. Look for us on our upcoming jaunt to Canada with the B-Movie Rats where Rich Coffee of The Excessories fame will be plucking on the bass for us. Should be a blast. More later folks....
The Streetwalkin' Cheetahs - The Video
The Cheetahs will shoot a video for the track "Automatic," at Spaceland in
Silverlake on Saturday, June 16. The song comes from their latest disc
"Waiting for the Death of My Generation." The video, directed by Paul Harb
and Bryan Krandle, revolves around the bat-masked youth on the cover of the
Cheetahs CD, as he hauls a TV set in his red wagon through locations of
urban
decay. The TV set displays shots of the Cheetahs playing the song live. Come on down and get your ugly/pretty mugs in the video!!
The Cheetahs Get Sucked Into Johhny's Problem
We just returned from our nationwide tour with D.I. and we
had a great fucking time!!! Those guys are the coolest!!!! Many beers were drunk, many jokes were played and many urban legends were born. Thanks to everyone who made it
down to a show. Special thenks to Casey, Scott, Ben and Drew. Maybe even Chris. We have more dates in June and July so check out the gigs section. In July
we will be heading to Canada for our first gig ever up there at the Naughty
Camp Festival. We will head up the coast to Vancouver with our buddies The B
Movie Rats for what is sure to be a debauchery-filled tour! The new album,
Waiting For The Death of My Generation, will be out soon in Europe through
Munster Records, hopefully on vinyl, and we have two upcoming singles for Junk Records on the way.
Stay tuned for more rock....
Joey Ramone R.I.P
Austin Rockin' Limits
Hey y'all!! We just finished our two week jaunt to Austin with the B-Movie Rats for the SXSW festival, and to say we had a BLAST would be an understatement. The Rats are quite probably the greatest rock band we've ever had the good fortune to tour with and the new songs they've been playing are frighteningly good. Undoubtedly classic in nature. Our collective hat goes off to Curt, Derrick, Bill, Matt, and Andy for their awe inspiring live shows and for proving that Rock & Roll still thrives in the U.S. of A. As for we Cheetahs, we had a great fuckin' time and appreciate all y'all who came out to see us. We've gotten some great feedback from the shows and will probably be bringing our travelling circus to a town near you soon, so check out our gigs section to find out. Special thanks to Jason and Dave in Austin. You guys rule. The first reviews of our new album are in, so go to the press section to check 'em out. Here's what the Austin Chronicle had to say about our SXSW afternoon show. Later.
From Austin Chronicle's South By Southwest Coverage
Is there a better punk rock band than the Streetwalkin' Cheetahs? Is there a
better rock & roll band than the Cheetahs? Is there a better band, period?
Maybe, but they ain't anywhere on the music industry radar. A conference
favorite for the past several years, the L.A. quartet is a band that leaves
it all onstage, and with the Cheetahs doing their usual detonation set at
this day party on the patio of the Austin music community's favorite cantina
several hours before their scheduled showcase at Emo's, one had to wonder if
maybe they shouldn't pace themselves. Mind you, the four bright-eyed
scruffers didn't seem to be drinking in excess, only rocking in excess. And
what a beautiful thing it is when they do so. Debuting material from their
brand new Triple X Records LP Waiting for the Death of My Generation,
frontman Frank Meyer and the boys let it all hang out, and if you recognize
their name as the Iggy Pop reference it is, that's about all you need to know
about their music. That and the MC5, whose Wayne Kramer is a friend and
frequent collaborator. "Incendiary" is a word overused in the rock critic
lexicon, and yet it was invented for just such a band, and as they tore
through the first four tracks from the new album, one couldn't help but be
glad the band was playing just in front of the Casino's little fountain; if
anyone caught fire, well, the answer was right in front of them. When Meyer,
and later bassist Jeff Watson, got on the edge of said fountain to hold their
guitars high in the rock & roll salute, one had to be a little worried about
them falling in and electrocuting themselves, but clearly this was the last
thing on the band's mind. One gets the sense all they care about is the white
fury behind their eyes when they're going for broke. While the
no-holds-barred Waiting for the Death of My Generation finds the Cheetahs
fleshing out their sound a bit with exotic instrumentation (i.e. keyboards
and horns), their 45-minute rock & roll bare-all was their usual no-frills,
straight-ahead guitar, bass, and bombast. The kind that brings that same
white fury to headbangers' glazed smiles. Speaking of headbangers, former
Dangerous Toys frontman Jason McMaster was on hand to do his best Bon Scott
(check out his local band Broken Teeth) on a song of his that the Cheetahs
cover, "Undertaker." For an encore, he then pulled out his best Bruce
Dickinson as the band tortured Iron Maiden's "Sanctuary." At a show like the
Streetwalkin' Cheetahs, that's the last thing you'll find, but the first
thing you'll want afterward.
Automatic on DC101
Okay, we're giving y'all another free download. At this rate, we will have bootlegged our entire album far before Napster gets hold of it. Anyway go to
DC101, the Washington DC radio station, to download our new song, "Automatic." If you like it, tell 'em so. If not, they got plenty of songs by this obscure group called U2 for you to download.
Welcome To The New Cheetah
We're quite happy to announce the addition of our new drummer Eric Herrmann. Eric hails from Cleveland and has played with a couple of local bands here in LA, notably Toothpick Elbow, but is now a full time Angeleno/Cheetah. He is well versed in the language of Rock, (he may even have a Faces bootleg we don't have) and we are pleased as punch to have him. Check out our gigs section to find out where you can catch the new line-up on our upcoming tour with The B-Movie Rats.
More Vinyl Comin' At Ya As if we don't put out enough splendiferous tunes for y'all, we just signed up to put out a new split 7" on Junk Records. Our Triple X cohorts The Adz will contribute the song American Steel, while we will be releasing a vinyl version of Right To Rock. The Billy single that was supposed to come out on Cold Front is now coming out on Junk also. What can we say. We like Lou. Be good by being evil everybody.
Waiting For The Death Of My Generation So the new album is done and will be coming out March 6th on Triple X Records. We'll then be headed out on the road with our brothers in arms, the B-Movie Rats, to spread the Rock throughout the land.
MIX IT AND KICK IT!!
Were finally putting the finishing touches on our new album. We'll be mixing it this week with Mr. Kehew who is just back from mixing the live bonus disc that comes with the rerelease of "Billion Dollar Babies" in London. Good gig Brian. Anyway, after the mix and two last shows with the Toilet Boys and Electric Frankenstein on Dec 1st & 2nd, we're taking a much needed rest until February. Holidays with the family and convincing our wives and girlfriends that "we really don't tour THAT often" being our main motivations. So, until next year, look for a couple comp tracks that'll be coming out, a new single on Junk Records, and start salivating over the release of our new album scheduled for March 6th. You know you want it.
CHEETAHS' TOUR DIARY Leftovers
Nov. 17th - Los Angeles, CA. Okay, so we failed miserably at updating the tour diary, but sometimes living the moments got in the way of writing about them. The final weeks of the tour went great. Highlights including our bizarre night in Albequerque where the Supersuckers played all covers and we ended up crashing on the floor of a most bizarre group of Satanic Bible reading young ladies. Special thanks to Alexis from Texas for the early morning massages in our hotel room in Dallas. Any band going through Dallas should look her up at rocknrollmassage.com. She's a sweetie. A couple days later, playing a hot rod show on the roof of the parking garage at the Hard Rock Vegas turned into a drunken lap dance frenzy at the strip bar across the street for a couple of us Cheetahs (and an Amazing Crown). Generally, we had a Greaaaaaaaaaat fucking time, made some good friends, and ROCKED!!! Thanks again to all the Supersuckers and Crowns for letting us bum around the country with 'em. It may have been the most fun we've ever had on tour.
Cheers to Eddie, Dan, Ron, Dan, Judd, Jason, Greg and Jack.
CHEETAHS' TOUR DIARY DAYs 5-11
Oct. 20th - Austin, TX. As you can see, our ability to update the tour diary has been severely hampered by excessive driving, excessive drinking and excessive drug use. What can we say? Every night of the tour has been a blast! The Crowns are really nice guys and the Suckers are the coolest guys in the world! Ron from the Suckers is our new guitar god and Eddie Spaghetti has a million and one hilarious stories. It's drummer Dan's b-day every night and guitarist Dan "Thunder" Bolton is our new drinkin' buddy!!!! Boise, ID was killer!! Small club but packed with crazy motherfuckers. Salt Lake City, UT was a little light when we played (ballad of the opening band!) since we had never played there before - but we did our best to bring the rock to the people! Frank jumped about 20 feet in the air from on top of some tables and looked like he was about to break both knees - he didn't. Denver was, as always, was insane. We have so many amazing friends and fans out there and our pals from the 15th St Tavern came out and partied with us and gave Frank a raz of shit for his KNAC article about Vegas (they gave him a Pussy racket, if you know what that means). We played to a packed house and then partied the rest of the night in supreme fashion. Thanks to Laurie for putting us up and Angie for ruling the world. After the show Art, Mike, Jeff and Thunder Dan hit the town for some late night rockin'. Then we drove 18 hours to Austin and cruised to the Metro for a great show last night. Our pal Dave Glessner (KNAC.COM scribe) put us up at his pad after a swell night of RAWKin'!!!! Now we're off to Houston, and Dallas, and then back to Austin where we have been added to the 'Suckers Free The West Memphis Three record release party at Emo's with Zeke and the Valentie Killers - so be there!!!!! Yee fuckin haw, motherfucker!!!!
CHEETAHS' TOUR DIARY DAY 4
Oct. 14th - Portland, OR. Only day four and getting to a computer is becoming a pain, as well as cutting into our drinking time. So, here's the highlights.
CHEETAHS' TOUR DIARY DAY 3
Oct. 13th - Seattle, WA. The waiting is over and we finally did our first gig with The Supersuckers at the Crocodile. The show went off great and all the Supersuckers were really cool and they fucking rocked!! I mean, any band that does a Thin Lizzy cover, a You Am I cover, a Turbo Negro cover and wrote Creepy Jackalope Eye is alright with us. We also met The Amazing Crowns who are the other band on the bill with us for the tour. Really nice guys, psychobilly-ish songs and a kick ass cover of Sin City by AC/DC. Looks like it's gonna be a fun tour. Thanks to Stephanie for putting us up, and putting up with us.
CHEETAHS' TOUR DIARY DAY 2
Oct. 12th - Seattle, WA. - Well, day two of this fun-loving tour started out ominously enough when an hour after leaving the hotel, Frank remembered he left some weed in the room. Enjoy lucky chambermaid. We got to Seattle and immediately went to see The Catheters at a tranie bar which turned out to be really cool. The Catheters rocked, Art got head butted and a drunk guy tried to piss on him, and a fight broke out on stage that stopped the set cold. Lotsa scrambling about. Then, they rocked some more. All in all, a good time was had by everybody. Anyway, tomorrow is the first show with The Supersuckers, Friday the 13th I might add. More later.
CHEETAHS' TOUR DIARY DAY 1
Oct. 11th - Redlands, CA. Motel 6. The friend to poverty stricken travellers. So, we've hit the road on our three week jaunt with the Supersuckers, and so far it's just been alot of driving. Our first gig is the day after tomorrow, but we decided to cruise up to Seattle early to go and catch The Catheters. If you haven't seen 'em, do it!! They're fucking great. Anyway, we've finished recording our new album at Rotund Rascal Studios in North Hollywood and we think the shit sounds great. The cover of Know Your Product by the Saints is particularly cool because we got our friends Dirty Walt from Fishbone, John Wahl from Clawhammer, Tony Atherton from Butette and Dan Clucas from Dead Air to come in and handle the horn parts. Tony Fate of Bellrays/Grey Spikes fame lended guitar to his song Mama Train, and Frank San Felipo brought in the most surprising addition to the new album, a sitar. No we haven't become fucking hippies, but trust us, the song he plays on rocks!!! We'll try to keep you up to date on what's going on, so stay tuned.
CHEETAHS IN THE STUDIO
Sept. 26th - We've gone into the studio to record our new album, Waiting For The Death Of My Generation with our new producer Brian Kehew at the helm. Brian's credits run from the Muffs and the Dickies to Air and beyond. This guy knows his stuff and we're all shit-happy about how things are going. The record will be released on Triple X Records in February of next year.
THE FILLMORE AND THE FUTURE !!
Sept. 20th - Well, what can ya say about our show last Saturday at the Fillmore for the CMJ conference, other than it was the most fun we've had in a loooooooong time!! The Dragons, The B-Movie Rats, The Hellbenders and Texas Terri & The Stiff Ones ALL kicked ass!!! We all got fucked up and had a great time.
Thanks to Lou at Junk Records for putting us on the bill. You rule Lou!! We had such a great time with the Rats, that we've already started booking a three week national tour with those bastards to begin in February of next year. Dates will come soon, but 'til then, try to catch us on our tour with the Supersuckers in October. Note: We never say no to free drinks. Buy a Cheetah a drink, have a friend for life!!!
MORE RELEASES ON THE WAY!!
Sept 3rd - The Cheetahs will be going into the studio next week to record some new songs for a variety of upcoming releases. We'll be doing a version of The Boys song "Kamikaze" for a Boys tribute record, as well as a version of "Catholic School Girls Rule" for a Chili Peppers tribute. A new single on Cold Front Records will feature the original songs "The Night Billy Wanted To Fly", "Those Days Are Gone" and an acoustic version of "Miss Teen USA" from a live radio performance. The Cheetahs will also be contributing the song "3 Chords & An Attitude" to the Deadbeat Records "Viva Le Vinyl" compilation. Recording of our next full length on Triple X Records begins next month!!!
TAKING THE ROCK TO THE PEOPLE
The Cheetahs will be playing the Las Vegas Shakedown on August 11th, joining a bill of bands that is fucking unbelievable!!! Go to our links page and visit the Shakedown webpage for a complete band listing. Wow!! Also, the Cheetahs have just signed on to do a full scale American tour supporting the Supersuckers starting in October. Stay tuned for dates. THE STREETWALKIN' CHEETAHS ROCK

Well it was a banner fuckin night for the Cheetahs last night as the Cheetahs won an award.
New Times Readers Poll Best Hard Rock/Metal/Punk Band 1999. No one was more shocked than the band , special thanks go out to everyone who voted for us..The show was great, The Bell Rays played with their new drummer Todd Westover and killed. Chris Carter did a great job as the host. Beer & drinks were consumed, a fun time was had by all.

Also this past week the band were filmed for an upcoming movie on the punk rock scene in the 90's that will also feature Electric Frankenstein, The B-Movie Rats and more. A trailer should be finished by Xmas time.

The Cheetahs will be doing a cameo in Legs McNeil's Charles Manson epic"These Children That Come At You With Knives." The fumetti-style script will be in the tradition of Punk Magazine's now famous parodies "Mutant Monster Beach Party," which starred Debbie Harry and Joey Ramone, and "Legend Of Nick Detroit" starring Richard Hell. The 15 page mix of still pictures and comic styled lettering will appear in the 20.0(May/June) issue of POPsmear Magazine and will feature an all star cast of '70s punk rockers, '90s punk rockers, A list actors, porno stars and other assorted freaks. The cast includes Tool singer Maynard Keenan, actress Chloe Webb (Sid and Nancy, China Beach), infamous writer Jerry Stahl, porn legends Veronica Hart and Sharon Mitchell, Wayne Kramer from the MC5, Handsome Dick Manitoba from the Dictators, Arthur Kane from the New York Dolls, Jimmy Zero from the Dead Boys, Kembra Pfahler from Voluptuous Horrors of Karen Black, Shawn Pierce from the Toilet Boys, the Streetwalkin' Cheetahs, Texas Terri, the ADZ, B Movie Rats, SexyXrist, and more!
